I finally got the Zeus wheels on the 8-Fiddy and I AM IN LOVE! It looks even better than I could have imagined.
I also got the main lower motor mounts replaced as well.
Yesterday I got the Cruze transmission serviced. So lots of car projects being moved forward this weekend. Good stuff!

Thanks! I think its a handsome car. I kind of want to paint them gold, but I’m not sure at this point.
As hitting up the plastic is on my to-do list. It may happen this week if we end up closing at work.

Shows great promise. Nice prancing moose badges on the side.
Also, did the transmission service fix the issue in second on the Cruze ? My unrelated autobox seems to be sucking more hp down the drain lately which has me worried. I think it’s time for a service as well.

Thanks! It’s coming along nicely. I think that all I have left to do is a fuel filter and some interior bits - speakers and door panels. At that point I think I’m done and will start looking for a buyer later this spring or this summer.
I wouldn’t call it “fixed,” but it is better. The noise is quieter and over less of a speed/rpm range. Unforuntately I couldn’t use the fluid I wanted to. The GM stuff is $45/qt at the dealership and I need 3 quarts. Even online it’s around $30. I did some research and the Cruze forums recommended Amsoil Syncromesh or 75W90 Heavy Duty, or Redline MT90. I looked around and all I could get locally was the Syncromesh. the 75W90 and MT90 are a bit thicker and may have done more to help the issue, but I got to the point that I think doing anything is better than doing nothing.
How many miles on your trans and has it ever been serviced / how long since it’s last service? If it’s low mileage and/or been serviced regularly just go for it. If it’s higher mileage and/or you’re unsure of it’s service history you may want to do it gradually - drain about 1/4 to 1/3 of the fluid and replace, don’t do it all at once, and for the love of god don’t flush it.

That was helpful. I will make sure to check out the forums and also figure out my specific transmission, but it’s 120k with unknown service history. I got it right around 100k but the previous owner seems to have maintained it well.

I don’t think the transmission in the Volvo had ever been serviced and it had 165k when I bought it. It holds about 6 quarts of fluid, so I drained ~2 and added ~2 of a high mileage fluid. Drove it around 1500 miles, and then repeated. It’s been running just fine the whole time - I can’t say it’s a whole lot better but it’s certainly not worse, and at least I have some piece of mind.
My dad has an Astro van, and it was due for it’s first transmission service, so around 50k miles . T he shop did a power flush and it was never right after that, made all kinds of awful whining noises. It actually continued to run fine, but it was loud AF and the noise never went away. I’ve heard much worse though from people flushing transmissions with 100k+ miles that hadn’t been serviced before , like destroyed bands/clutches and other total failures.
I don’t know why, but somehow the gunk in there coats everything and the transmission just gets used to it, I guess. And when you flush it you blow all that out and it “shocks ” the system and then it gets all messed up.
